STARLIGHT STORIES

“What an inspirational performance. Eight actors morphed into the real parents, volunteers and captains they played. Emotional, inspirational, funny and moving. I wish it could play to millions.”

Neil Flett

“I'm so glad I was lucky enough to attend last night. I think I'll have to see it again with some friends, such a unique and inspiring project.”

NinetoFive

This is the third creative collaboration Angus Anderson of Earth Key Productions and Dean Carey. After the sell-out season of Stories from the Wayside in 2011 and Stories from the West Side in 2012, Angus and Dean were looking for another extraordinary organization to offer this style of theatre to.

This particular style of verbatim theatre has come from their wish to not just capture what was said and how it was said, but to weave the dialogue into what feels like a shared conversation occurring in the here and now. There is no sense of a ‘retrospective’ but an immediate and compelling real-time character-to-character and character-to-audience connection. Through this relationship incredible stories arise and people share completely from their heart.

“Verbatim theatre has always intrigued me. Since I began working with this form its power and potential has never failed to fire my imagination. The responsibility of honouring real people and their stories without fear nor favour is daunting. The cast completely surrender to this very intimate process and rise to the challenge through creating a safe and secure interview environment where real inquiry and revelation can take place.” Dean Carey

Welcome to Starlight Stories. Sit back and get ready for an extraordinary journey into the heart of the matter. Earth Key Productions along with Starlight, the cast and crew, sincerely thank the interviewees for their courage and honesty. This show would not exist if it weren’t for them.

“A wonderful piece of theatre. I gave up my Sydney Theatre Company subscription a few years ago, as the average play was doing nothing for me. But your production reminded me just how good theatre can be."

“Starlight Stories is an emotional and uplifting night at the theatre. I would highly recommend seeing this show, it's verbatim theatre at its most powerful. Extraordinary personal stories told with sensitivity and honesty.”
